Regular Season Round 5: RCOP Tsmoki - Impuls BGUIR 60-87

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Minsk: Impuls BGUIR Minsk (#3) and RCOP Tsmoki (#8). RCOP Tsmoki was crushed at home by 27 points 60-87 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The game was mostly controlled by Impuls BGUIR Minsk. RCOP Tsmoki managed to win second period 11-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Impuls BGUIR Minsk dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to RCOP Tsmoki's 40. Impuls BGUIR Minsk forced 29 RCOP Tsmoki turnovers and outrebounded them 47-34 including a 32-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Impuls BGUIR Minsk looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Ukrainian center Maksym Kozlovets (204-90) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Genadziy Zahar (200-92) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Four Impuls BGUIR Minsk players scored in double figures. Vladislav Vinnikov answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds and forward Timofey Karpuk (185-2) added 4 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for RCOP Tsmoki. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Impuls BGUIR Minsk (3-1) moved-up to second place. RCOP Tsmoki lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with three games lost. Impuls BGUIR Minsk are looking forward to face league's leader Rubon in Vitebsk in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. RCOP Tsmoki's supporters also look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Minsk to the arena BKM-RGUOR.
