Regular Season Round 2: Sykki - MuKi 79-100

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Helsinki: MuKi (#3) and Sykki (#6). Sykki was smashed at home by 21 points 79-100 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It looked good early as Sykki took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then MuKi had a 23-19 second period charge getting the lead and Sykki was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 79-100. MuKi dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Sykki's 44. Guard Eero Hannikainen (190-1) had a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Nikolas Gustavson (193-1) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Four MuKi players scored in double figures. Forward Mikko Savolainen (196-2) responded with 24 points and 4 assists and point guard Elmo Uitto (181-2) scored 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Sykki's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. MuKi will play against Kataja (#8) in Joensuu in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sykki's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Helsinki to the arena HNMKY.
