Regular Season Round 2: UCAM Jairis - Mataro Parc 65-49

There was a minor upset in Alcantarilla where Mataro Parc (1-1) was defeated by UCAM Jairis (1-1) 65-49 on Sunday. UCAM Jairis made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game, while Mataro Parc only scored two points from the stripe. They outrebounded Mataro Parc 37-20 including 26 on the defensive glass. American forward Maryah Sydnor (185-93, college: Appalachian St.) had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Danish forward Line Piechnik (171-90) chipped in 17 points during the contest. Center Olga Ruano (191-88) responded with 14 points and Nuria Checa scored 12 points. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. UCAM Jairis will face Lima-Horta (#3) in Barcelona in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Mataro Parc will play at home against Girona and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
