Regular Season Round 4: Sassari - Trieste 59-65

The most surprising game was the first loss of undefeated Sassari (3-1) at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by sixteenth ranked Trieste (1-3) 65-59. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Sassari. Trieste forced 19 Sassari turnovers. Strangely Sassari outrebounded Trieste 51-33 including a 36-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward DeQuan Jones (203-90, college: Miami, FL) who helped to win the game recording 22 points. Croatian forward Hrvoje Peric (203-85) contributed with 10 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Croatian center Miro Bilan (213-89, agency: BeoBasket) replied with 11 points and 9 rebounds and guard Marco Spissu (182-95) added 10 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Sassari. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Trieste left bottom position moving up to fourteenth place, which they share with Treviso. Sassari at the other side dropped to the second position with one game lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Trieste is looking forward to face higher ranked Brescia (#5) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Sassari will have a break next round.
