Regular Season Round 6: Ogre - Turiba RC 46-49

One of the most interesting games of round 6 was a derby match between two teams from Latvia. Twenty second ranked Ridzene edged host Ogre (1-2) 49-46. The guests were ahead by 3 points but lost the second period ending it with a 1-point deficit before their 11-7 run, which allowed them to win the game. Ridzene dominated on the defensive end, holding Ogre to just 7 points in fourth quarter. They also forced 28 Ogre turnovers and outrebounded them 46-24 including a 24-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for point guard Toms Darzins (166-4) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds. Davids Alvateris contributed with 10 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Ridzene's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Emils Balodis replied with 7 points and 7 rebounds and Gustavs Vanags added 10 points in the effort for Ogre. Ridzene left bottom position moving up to twelfth place, which they share with defeated Ogre.
