Regular Season Round 6: Kouvot - Kobrat 96-81

There was no surprise in Kouvola where 9th ranked Kobrat (2-4) was defeated by third ranked Kouvot (4-1) 96-81. The game was mostly controlled by Kouvot. Kobrat was better in second period 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Kobrat 44-27 including a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Kouvot players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. The game was also dominated by American players. Forward Duke Shelton (208-95, college: Tampa) notched a double-double by scoring 27 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and forward Derrick Barden-Jr (196-92, college: N.Colorado) supported him with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. Even 24 points and 5 assists by guard Brandon Boggs (198-92, college: W.Carolina, agency: Mansfield and Associates) did not help to save the game for Kobrat. Forward Jordan Capps (201-95, college: SE Louisiana) added 23 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Kouvot have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 4-1 record having just three points less than leader Vilpas. Kobrat lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth place with four games lost. Kouvot's next round opponent will be Kataja (#4) in Joensuu. Kobrat will play at home against the league's leader Vilpas (#1) and hope to win that game.
