Very expected game when 17th ranked Real Canoe (2-9) lost to thirteenth ranked CB Granada (5-6) in Madrid 81-92 on Friday. CB Granada made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. CB Granada outrebounded Real Canoe 40-25 including 19 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Real Canoe was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for center Sergio Olmos (213-86, college: Temple) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 6 rebounds. Brazilian guard Carlos Cobos (193-88) contributed with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Four CB Granada players scored in double figures. Dutch forward Olaf Schaftenaar (208-93, college: Oregon St.) replied with 13 points and 5 rebounds and Argentinian point guard Facundo Corvalan (190-98) added 14 points in the effort for Real Canoe. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. CB Granada moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Huesca and Alicante. Loser Real Canoe keeps the seventeenth position with nine games lost. CB Granada will face higher ranked Melilla Baloncesto (#9) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
