Regular Season Round 3: HNMKY - Sykki 89-74

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Helsinki: HNMKY (#1) and Sykki (#7). HNMKY (3-0) won against visiting Sykki (0-2) 89-74. It looked good early as Sykki took a 15-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then HNMKY took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 15 points. They also forced 21 Sykki turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for forward Iiro Tuomi (199-2) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Nikolas Kataja (190) accounted for 14 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winning side. Four HNMKY players scored in double figures. Point guard Elmo Uitto (181-2) came up with 24 points and 4 assists and forward Cristian Ahokas (202-1) added 17 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Sykki in the defeat. Sykki's coach rotated twelve players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. HNMKY will play against Kataja (#6) in Joensuu in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Sykki will play at home against Westside and hopes to get finally their first victory.
