Important game to mention about took place in Sao Paulo. Vivo/Franca (2-0) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging Corinthians (1-2) 89-87 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Vivo/Franca made 26-of-30 free shots (86.7 percent) during the game. Corinthians was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Uruguayan point guard Luciano Parodi (182-94) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points and 7 assists (perfect from downtown making all five shots). American David Jackson (195-82, college: Penn St.) contributed with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Vivo/Franca players scored in double figures. The former international point guard Ricardo Fischer (185-91) replied with 9 points and 9 assists and American Tracy Robinson (201-86, college: Loyola, IL) added 14 points in the effort for Corinthians. Corinthians' coach Bruno Savignani tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Vivo/Franca will face UniFacisa in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Corinthians will play against Mogi (#4) in Mogi das Cruzes and hope to win that game.
