Gipuzkoa UPV's fans can celebrate the first win of their team after four consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Maquinaria Ensino (1-4) 59-58. Brazilian center Erika De-Souza (197-82) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and Senegalese power forward Oumoul Sarr (185-84) chipped in 10 points and 7 rebounds. Swedish guard Kalis Loyd (188-89, college: Lamar) responded with 7 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists and American-Irish forward Fiona ODwyer (182-91, college: Emmanuel, MA) scored 13 points. Gipuzkoa UPV left bottom position moving up to eleventh place, which they share with Ensino and Zamarat. Gipuzkoa UPV will play against higher ranked Clarinos (#4) in San Cristobal in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Maquinaria Ensino will play at home against Araski (#8) to get more than just one victory in their record.
