Regular Season Round 6: Niigata R. - Haneda Vickies 54-82

Rather expected game when bottom-ranked Niigata R. (0-6) was smashed by ninth ranked Haneda Vickies (3-3) in Tokyo 82-54 on Saturday. Haneda Vickies dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Niigata R.'s 26. They outrebounded Niigata R. 58-33 including a 26-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for international guard Nanoko Motohashi (164-93) who led her team to a victory with 20 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Swingman Sayako Owase (177-97) contributed with 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Haneda Vickies players scored in double figures. Power forward Manaka Watanabe (177-95) replied with 16 points and center Raw Yoshinro (187-95) added 9 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Niigata R.Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Haneda Vickies moved-up to sixth place. Loser Niigata R. still closes the standings with six games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
