Regular Season Round 6: Toyota A. - Hitachi Cougars 58-61

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Toyota A. (3-2) against eleventh ranked Hitachi Cougars (1-3) on Saturday night. Host Toyota A. was edged by Hitachi Cougars in a tough game in Nagoya 58-61. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Toyota A.. Strangely Toyota A. outrebounded Hitachi Cougars 48-31 including a 22-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Guard Yuki Kitamura (173-94) scored 19 points to lead the charge for the winners and power forward Reimi Nunira (176-93) chipped in 8 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was international center Miyuki Kawamura (185-94) with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and the former international forward Ryoko Yano (178-78) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Hitachi Cougars left bottom position moving up to ninth place, which they share with Chanson V-M. Toyota A. at the other side dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. Hitachi Cougars will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Toyota A. will play again at home against Hitachi Cougars (#10) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
