Regular Season Round 5: Almeria - La Zubia 75-88

There was a surprise result when ninth ranked La Zubia (1-2) beat on the road 4th placed Almeria (1-2) 88-75 on Sunday. Forward Eloy Almazan (199-84) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and point guard Pablo Fernandez (188-93) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Luis Rueda (186-96) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and Juan-Miguel Molina scored 10 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. La Zubia left bottom position moving up to fifth place in Group D-A, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Almeria. La Zubia will face league's leader CAM E.Soler in Melilla in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Almeria will play on the road against Mijas Quabit (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
