There was a small surprise when fifth ranked Valencia-2 (2-1) beat on the road second-ranked Castello II (2-1) 107-94 on Sunday. Valencia-2 forced 20 Castello II turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Power forward Alejandro Rivas (203-98) stepped up and scored 24 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and Slovakian center Tomas Pavelka (217-0) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Forward Unai Lacalle (198-91) responded with 21 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and Pablo Chaparra scored 18 points. Five Valencia-2 and four Castello II players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Valencia-2 moved-up to second place in Group E-A, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Castello II. Valencia-2 will face Tabernes (#8) in Tabernes Blanques in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Castello II will play on the road against the league's leader Paterna (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
