Regular Season Round 5: Pruszkow - Kotwica 66-87

Kotwica has registered their first victory this season after four consecutive losses. The win is especially important as it came on the road game in Pruszkow, where they outplayed Pruszkow (1-4) 87-66 on Sunday. Kotwica dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Pruszkow's 32 and made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Kotwica forced 21 Pruszkow turnovers and outrebounded them 39-23 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Bartosz Wrobel (190-95, agency: Octagon Europe) who scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Power forward Lukasz Bodych (201-90) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. Point guard January Sobczak (179-97) produced 17 points and 6 assists and power forward Mateusz Szwed (198-91) added 10 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 blocks respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Pruszkow's coach Andrzej Kierlewicz gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Kotwica left bottom position moving up to twelfth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Pruszkow. Kotwica will meet at home higher ranked Polonia Leszno (#8) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pruszkow will play against Pogon Prudnik (#9) and hope to win that game.
