Not a big story in a game when 6th ranked Chiba J. (2-5) lost at home to first ranked Toshiba Thunders (6-1) 96-89 on Sunday. Toshiba Thunders made 26-of-33 free shots (78.8 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Chiba J. was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for international power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds. The former international point guard Yuma Fujii (178-91) contributed with 22 points for the winners. American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) answered with 29 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) and the other American import power forward Josh Duncan (203-86) added 21 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Chiba J.Four Chiba J. players scored in double figures. Chiba J.'s coach Atsushi Ono let to play eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Toshiba Thunders maintains first place with 6-1 record. Chiba J. lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the fourth position with five games lost. Toshiba Thunders will face San-en NeoPhoenix (#6) in Hamamatsu in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Chiba J. will play on the road against Akita Happinets and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
