Regular Season Round 8: Akita NH - Chiba J. 77-96

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 5th ranked Akita Happinets (3-4) were crushed at home by sixth ranked Chiba J. (3-5) 96-77 on Wednesday. Chiba J. shot 61.3 percent from the field. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and the other American import power forward Josh Duncan (203-86) who added 23 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. American power forward Justin Keenan (202-89, college: Ferris St.) responded with 21 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and American-Panamanian center Javier Carter (203-91, college: S.Alabama) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Chiba J. moved-up to third place, which they share with Sea Horses M. and Toyama G. Loser Akita Happinets keep the fifth position with four games lost. Chiba J. will face Shimane Magic (#6) at home in the next round. Akita Happinets will play against Shiga L-Stars and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
