Regular Season Round 16: Cimarrones - Academia 83-69

The most important game in the last round took place in Quibdo-Choco between second ranked Academia (7-7) and sixth ranked Cimarrones (6-8) on Wednesday night. Academia was defeated by Cimarrones on the road 83-69. Cimarrones looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Academia's players. Worth to mention a great performance of Argentinian forward Jose Materan-Suarez (200-96) who helped to win the game recording 19 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international swingman Eleuterio Renteria (194-81) who added 15 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals during the contest. At the losing side Jose Lozano responded with 13 points and 8 rebounds and American point guard Frank Agholor (183, college: York, NE) scored 15 points. Five Cimarrones and four Academia players scored in double figures. Cimarrones moved-up to fifth place. Academia lost third consecutive game. They keep the second position with seven games lost. They share it with Piratas. Cimarrones are looking forward to face higher ranked Fast Break (#4) in Bogota in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Academia will play against the league's leader Titanes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
