Regular Season Round 5: PeKa - ViVe 90-71

Bottom-ranked ViVe is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their fourth consecutive match to third ranked Peli-Karhut (4-1) 90-71. The game was mostly controlled by Peli-Karhut. ViVe was better in second period 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Peli-Karhut dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to ViVe's 36. They outrebounded ViVe 58-30 including a 24-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Peli-Karhut players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. American guard Tiasha Gray (170-94, college: Austin Peay) stepped up with a triple-double by scoring 14 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners and naturalized Russian power forward Elena Melto (184-86) chipped in 13 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks. Four Peli-Karhut players scored in double figures. Peli-Karhut's coach Roope Makela allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American swingman Amy Griffin (183-96, college: La Salle) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import guard Abria Trice (185-92, college: ECU, agency: LBM Management) scored 20 points and 7 rebounds. Peli-Karhut have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with FoA. ViVe at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. Peli-Karhut will play against Torpan Pojat (#4) in Helsinki in the next round. ViVe will play at home against HyPo (#10) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
