Regular Season Round 16: Piratas - Titanes 68-85

Very significant was Titanes' (#1, 11-3) victory against one of their biggest challengers Piratas (7-7) 85-68. Titanes made 16-of-18 charity shots (88.9 percent) during the game. The winners were led by American-Dominican swingman Luis Jacobo (196-91, college: PFW) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 29 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his eleven free throws !!!) and international power forward Michael Hinestroza (208-90, college: UALR) supported him with 6 points and 6 rebounds. Even 17 points and 7 rebounds by the former international power forward Jairo Mendoza (203-85, college: New Orleans) did not help to save the game for Piratas. Venezuelan guard Yohanner Sifontes (192-95) added 18 points for lost side. Four Piratas players scored in double figures. Titanes have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 11-3 record. Piratas at the other side dropped to the second place with seven games lost. They share the position with Academia. Titanes will play against league's second-placed Academia in Montana in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Piratas will have a break next round.
