Regular Season Round 4: Haukar - Fjolnir 99-75

No shocking result in a game in Hafnarfjordur where fourth ranked Haukar (3-1) smashed 8th ranked Fjolnir (1-3) 99-75 on Thursday. Haukar dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Fjolnir's 30. They outrebounded Fjolnir 57-39 including 21 on the offensive glass. Haukar looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. American forward Flenard Whitfield (201-90, college: W.Michigan) fired a double-double by scoring 28 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. American-Dutch Gerald Robinson (202-84, college: UT Martin) chipped in a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds. Hungarian-Serbian Srdjan Stojanovic (197-91) produced 29 points and 9 rebounds (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and Croatian forward Jere Vucica (206-92, college: Miami, OH) added 20 points and 11 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Haukar have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Valur. Newly promoted Fjolnir keeps the eighth position with three games lost. Haukar will face Thor Thorl (#10) in Thorlakshofn in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Fjolnir will play at home against Grindavik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
