Regular Season Round 5: Defensor - Olimpia 88-83

Olimpia (4-1) recorded their first loss in Montevideo on Thursday night. Visitors were defeated by eighth ranked Defensor (2-2) 88-83. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Olimpia. Defensor made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Olimpia 38-27 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Defensor looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American power forward Eric Dawson (206-84, college: Midwestern St., agency: Interperformances) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import John DeGroat (201-85, college: Pittsburgh) chipped in 21 points. Dawson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Guard Abel Agarbado (179-93) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 assists and Puerto Rican forward Johwen Villegas (194-85, college: FIU) added 22 points respectively for the guests. Four Olimpia players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Defensor moved-up to seventh place. Olimpia at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
