Regular Season Round 14: Abejas - Capitanes 84-101

LNBP top team - Capitanes (9-3) had no problems winning another game on Thursday. This time they beat fifth ranked Abejas (6-7) in Guanajuato 101-84. Capitanes shot 61.3 percent from the field. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Panamanian forward Ernesto Oglivie (203-89) who scored 20 points and 9 rebounds (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!). Dominican guard Rigoberto Mendoza (190-92) chipped in 20 points and 6 assists. Capitanes' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Michael Smith (193-95, college: CBU) produced 22 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and American-Puerto Rican swingman Alex Franklin (198-88, college: Siena) added 18 points respectively for the hosts. Five Capitanes and four Abejas players scored in double figures. Capitanes maintains first position with 9-3 record, which they share with Aaguacateros and Soles. Loser Abejas keep the fifth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Astros. Capitanes will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Abejas will play again against the league's leader Capitanes (#1) and hope to secure a win.
