Regular Season Round 7: Zornotza - Algeciras 77-69

Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked Zornotza (4-3) defeated 11th ranked Algeciras (2-5) in Amorebieta-Echano 77-69 on Saturday. Algeciras was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 25-16 charge of Zornotza, which allowed them to win the game. It was a very good performance for guard Pol Olivier (188-94, college: NW Nazarene, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Ukrainian forward Yevgen Sakhniuk (201-95, college: Thomas Jefferson) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four Zornotza players scored in double figures. Lithuanian forward Erikas Kalinicenko (199-97) answered with 28 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Andrew Kelly (201-91, college: Alaska-Fairb.) added 13 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Algeciras. Despite that victory Zornotza went down to fifth position (Silver) due to points difference. Newly promoted Algeciras dropped to the twelfth place with five games lost. Zornotza will face league's second-placed UBU Tizona in Burgos in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Algeciras will play at home against Marbella (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
