Regular Season Round 6: Clarinos - Gipuzkoa UPV 67-66

A very interesting game took place in San Cristobal. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 13th ranked Gipuzkoa UPV (1-5) to fourth ranked Clarinos (4-2) 67-66 on Saturday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. It was a good game for American center Vionise Pierre-Louis (193-95, college: Oklahoma) who saved her team from a defeat with 17 points. The other American import power forward Lyndra Littles Weaver (185-87, college: Virginia) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Four Clarinos players scored in double figures. Clarinos' coach Claudo Garcia allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Guard Laura Garcia (176-81) replied with 15 points and 5 assists and Brazilian center Erika De-Souza (197-82) added 8 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Gipuzkoa UPV. Clarinos moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. Gipuzkoa UPV at the other side dropped to the eleventh position with five games lost. Clarinos' next round opponent will be Socinsa Bembibre (#11) at home and are hoping to win another game. Gipuzkoa UPV will play against Araski and hope to win that game.
