There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked Ponferrada CDP (2-5) beat at home higher ranked Navarra (3-4) 99-84 on Saturday. Ponferrada CDP made 28-of-36 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Navarra turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Navarra was plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for guard Andrew Ramirez (188-97, college: Hartford) who helped to win the game recording 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Luis Ferrando (185-96, college: Mount Olive) contributed with 14 points, 8 assists and 6 steals for the winners. Five Ponferrada CDP players scored in double figures. Guard Inaki Narros (196-81) answered with 17 points and forward Adrian Garcia (202-85) added 7 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Navarra. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Ponferrada CDP moved-up to eleventh place in Silver. Loser Navarra dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. Ponferrada CDP will face higher ranked Moron (#4) in Morón de la Frontera in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
