Regular Season Round 6: Cholet - Le Portel 80-72

There was no surprise when 14th ranked Le Portel (1-5) lost on the road to seventh ranked Cholet Basket (4-2) 80-72 on Saturday. Cholet Basket made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. American point guard Michael Stockton (185-89, college: Westminster, UT) notched a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 assists to lead the effort and Sudanese-American guard Peter Jok (198-94, college: Iowa) supported him with 20 points. Four Cholet Basket players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds by American power forward Franklin Hassell (205-88, college: ODU) did not help to save the game for Le Portel. His fellow American import guard DAngelo Harrison (193-93, college: St.John's) added 18 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Cholet Basket have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place. Loser Le Portel dropped to the sixteenth position with five games lost. They share it with Roanne and Strasbourg. Cholet Basket will meet Entente Orleans 45 (#12) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Le Portel will play against JL Bourg (#3) and hope to win that game.
