Regular Season Round 8: Kauhajoki - Korihait 81-69

Bottom-ranked Korihait (0-8) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their eighth consecutive match to eleventh ranked Kauhajoki (3-5) 81-69 on Saturday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Kauhajoki. Korihait managed to win third quarter 19-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kauhajoki dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Korihait's 28. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Cameron Jones (193-89, college: NAU) who helped to win the game recording 23 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import forward Evan Yates (198-91, college: Ashland) who added 17 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Jones is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Kauhajoki players scored in double figures. Kauhajoki's coach Janne Koskimies used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Anton Cook (188-95, college: SE Oklahoma) responded with 15 points and 4 assists and forward Henri Ventoniemi (208-95, college: W.Florida, agency: Players Group) scored 8 points and 7 rebounds. Defending champion moved-up to eighth place, which they share with BC Nokia and Kobrat. Korihait at the other side still closes the standings with eight games lost. Kauhajoki is looking forward to face higher ranked Ura Basket (#7) in Kaarina in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Korihait will play at home against BC Nokia (#8) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
