Very important is a home loss of second ranked Aaguacateros (9-4) against fourth ranked Panteras (9-5) on Saturday night. Host Aaguacateros were defeated by Panteras in Michoacan 88-75. They made 17-of-18 free shots (94.4 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American-Puerto Rican forward Derek Reese (201-93, college: Tennessee) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 14 rebounds. Puerto Rican forward Benito Santiago (198-89, college: Cumberlands) chipped in a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. Four Panteras players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Tristan Spurlock (203-91, college: UCF) who recorded 18 points and 8 rebounds and international center Edgar Garibay (211-90, college: LBSU, agency: Best of You Sports) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Panteras maintains fourth place with 9-5 record. Loser Aaguacateros keep the second position with four games lost. Panteras will face higher ranked Capitanes (#3) in Mexico in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Aaguacateros will play on the road against Libertadores in Queretaro and hope to win that game.
