Regular Season Round 5: Anwil - Trefl 84-86

Undefeated Anwil (4-1) recorded its first loss in Wloclawek. Hosts were edged by sixth ranked Trefl (4-1) 86-84. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Anwil. Trefl made 18-of-23 charity shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Anwil was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international power forward Pawel Leonczyk (203-86) stepped up and scored 19 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners and international point guard Lukasz Kolenda (196-99) chipped in 16 points and 7 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Four Trefl players scored in double figures. American guard Tony Wroten (198-93, college: Washington) responded with 16 points and 4 assists and the other American import swingman Chris Dowe (191-91, college: Bellarmine) scored 14 points and 5 assists. The victory was the third consecutive win for Trefl. They moved-up to second place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Anwil. Trefl will play against GTK (#12) in Gliwice in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Anwil will play on the road against Stelmet Enea BC (#7) in Zielona Gora and hopes to get back on the winning track.
