Regular Season Round 15: Abejas - Capitanes 91-86

The biggest surprise took place in Guanajuato where host Abejas (7-6) beat league's leader Capitanes (9-4) 91-86 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Capitanes. Abejas dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Capitanes' 38. They outrebounded Capitanes 35-24 including 26 on the defensive glass. Abejas looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American-Puerto Rican swingman Alex Franklin (198-88, college: Siena) who had a double-double by scoring 29 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. American guard Spencer Williams (188-95, college: Wooster) chipped in 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international Hector Hernandez (205-85, college: Fresno St., agency: BeoBasket) who recorded 20 points and Panamanian forward Ernesto Oglivie (203-89) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Five Capitanes players scored in double figures. Abejas maintains fifth place with 7-6 record. Capitanes at the other side dropped to the second position with four games lost. They share it with Aaguacateros. They were replaced at the leadership position by Mineros. Capitanes will play next round against strong Panteras trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Abejas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
