Rather predictable result in Lugo where eighth ranked Araski (3-3) defeated 11th ranked Maquinaria Ensino (1-5) 72-68 on Saturday. The former international point guard Maria Asurmendi (168-86) scored 15 points to lead the charge for the winners and guard Tania Perez-Torres (183-91) chipped in 12 points during the contest. Araski's coach Madelen Urieta used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was Serbian point guard Aleksandra Stanacev (167-94) with 16 points, 6 assists and 4 steals and American-Irish forward Fiona ODwyer (182-91, college: Emmanuel, MA) scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Araski moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Al-Qazeres. Maquinaria Ensino lost third consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with five games lost. Araski will face Gipuzkoa UPV (#13) in San Sebastian in the next round where they are favorite.
