Regular Season Round 8: Niigata R. - Hitachi Cougars 54-57

Bottom-ranked Niigata R. (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 57-54 loss to tenth ranked Hitachi Cougars (2-4) in Tokyo on Saturday evening. Worth to mention a great performance of international power forward Chika Suzuki (183-93) who helped to win the game recording 11 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Hoshi Aka (170-95) who added 14 points during the contest. Forward Erina Sugawara (177-93) responded with 17 points and 8 rebounds and center Raw Yoshinro (187-95) scored 9 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Hitachi Cougars moved-up to ninth place. Loser Niigata R. still closes the standings with seven games lost. Hitachi Cougars will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Niigata R. will play again against Hitachi Cougars (#9) in Hitachinaka and hopes to get finally their first victory.
