Regular Season Round 8: Denso Iris - Toyota B SR 56-82

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Denso Iris (4-1) in Kariya on Saturday night. Hosts were rolled over by Toyota B SR (6-1) 82-56. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Denso Iris. Strangely Denso Iris outrebounded Toyota B SR 48-32 including 20 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was swingman Saito Asami (173-96) who scored 19 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Swingman Nanako Todo (175-0) chipped in 21 points. The former international center Maki Takada (183-89) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds and the former international center Sakura Akaho (182-96) added 12 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Toyota B SR have an impressive six-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with JX-Eneos S. Denso Iris at the other side dropped to the fifth place with one game lost. Toyota B SR will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Denso Iris will play again on the road against the league's second-placed Toyota B SR (#2) in Aichi and are hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
