Regular Season Round 13: Ibaraki R. - Sendai 89ers 64-85

An interesting game for Sendai 89ers (9-4) which played road game in Tsukuba against 3rd placed Ibaraki R. (5-8). Second ranked Sendai 89ers had an easy win 85-64. Sendai 89ers outrebounded Ibaraki R. 35-22 including 28 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. American center Daniel Miller (211-91, college: Georgia Tech) fired a double-double by scoring 12 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. Guard Taisei Shirato (181-95) chipped in 23 points. Guard Daisuke Kobayashi (188-87) produced 23 points and 9 rebounds and Nigerian forward Daniel Ochefu (211-93, college: Villanova) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ibaraki R.'s coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Sendai 89ers. They keep a position of league leader. Ibaraki R. at the other side dropped to the fourth place with eight games lost. Sendai 89ers will have a break next round. Ibaraki R. will play on the road against Koshigaya A. (#6) in Tokyo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
