Regular Season Round 13: Yamagata - FE Nagoya 60-89

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked FE Nagoya (8-5) crushed on the road 6th ranked Yamagata (3-10) 89-60 on Sunday. FE Nagoya made 19-of-20 free shots (95.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Yamagata's players. Quite impressive performance for American forward Josh Hawkinson (208-95, college: WSU, agency: Wasserman) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists. Guard Kei Sugimoto (182-92) contributed with 18 points, 9 assists and 6 steals (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four FE Nagoya players scored in double figures. Nigerian forward Chukwudiebere Maduabum (206-91) answered with 12 points and 8 rebounds and guard Hiroki Furuhashi (185-92) added 14 points in the effort for Yamagata. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for FE Nagoya. They maintain fourth place with 8-5 record. Yamagata lost their seventh game in a row. They dropped to the fifth position with ten games lost. FE Nagoya will face league's leader Shinshu BW in Nagano in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Yamagata will play on the road against the league's second-placed Nishinomiya S. (#2) in Hyogo and hope to win that game.
