Regular Season Round 6: Portland TB - Dallas M. 121-119

The biggest surprise took place in Portland where host Trail Blazers (2-1) edged league's leader Mavericks (2-1) 121-119 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Mavericks. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Trail Blazers dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Mavericks' 48 and made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was guard CJ McCollum (193-91, college: Lehigh) who scored 35 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 4 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Point guard Damian Lillard (190-90, college: Weber St.) chipped in 28 points and 5 assists. Four Trail Blazers players scored in double figures. Trail Blazers' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was Slovenian guard Luka Doncic (201-99) who recorded a double-double by scoring 29 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists and Latvian power forward Kristaps Porzingis (221-95) added 32 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Trail Blazers keep a position of league leader, which they share with 8 other teams including defeated Mavericks. Mavericks will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Trail Blazers will try to continue on its current victory against first ranked Spurs in San Antonio.
