The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Gipuzkoa as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Gipuzkoa defeated bottom-ranked Real Canoe in San Sebastian 86-68. They outrebounded Real Canoe 42-29 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Gipuzkoa looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American point guard Johnny Dee (183-92, college: San Diego) who scored 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Latvian center Davis Rozitis (215-90, college: Hawaii) chipped in 8 points and 8 rebounds. Rozitis is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Center Jose-Maria Gil (207-91, agency: Dynamics Global Management) produced 13 points and 9 rebounds and Swedish guard Olle Lundqvist (199-99) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Real Canoe players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gipuzkoa have a solid series of four victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Valladolid and Palencia. Real Canoe at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. They share the position with Marin. Real Canoe will play next round against Magia Huesca trying to get back on the winning streak. Gipuzkoa will try to continue on its current victory against tenth ranked Melilla Baloncesto on the road.
