Regular Season Round 8: Lahti - Kouvot 95-104

Very predictable result when fifth ranked Kouvot (5-1) defeated on the road 11th ranked Lahti (2-6) 104-95 on Monday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 30-24. But Lahti won second period 24-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kouvot made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. The best player for the winners was forward Duke Shelton (208-95, college: Tampa) who scored 28 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Derrick Barden-Jr (196-92, college: N.Colorado) chipped in 23 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Four Kouvot players scored in double figures. Forward Courtney Stockard (196, college: St.Bonaventure) produced 27 points and 6 rebounds and guard Devante Wallace (196-92, college: High Point) added 27 points and 4 steals respectively for the hosts. Kouvot have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Newly promoted Lahti keeps the eleventh position with six games lost. Kouvot will meet at home KTP Basket (#6) in the next round. Lahti will play against Kataja (#4) in Joensuu and hope to secure a win.
