Regular Season Round 16: Panteras - Capitanes 83-88

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Capitanes (11-4) beat 4th ranked Panteras (9-7) in Aguascalientes 88-83 on Tuesday. It was a great shooting night for Capitanes especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Quite impressive performance for Dominican guard Rigoberto Mendoza (190-92) who helped to win the game recording 22 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international Hector Hernandez (205-85, college: Fresno St., agency: BeoBasket) contributed with 16 points and 4 steals for the winners. American-Puerto Rican forward Derek Reese (201-93, college: Tennessee) replied with 22 points and Puerto Rican guard Christian Pizarro (180-95, college: Miami Dade CC) added 11 points and 11 assists in the effort for Panteras. Five Capitanes and four Panteras players scored in double figures. Panteras' coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Capitanes keep a position of league leader. Loser Panteras keep the fourth place with seven games lost. Capitanes will face Libertadores (#8) in Queretaro in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Panteras will play on the road against Abejas (#6) in Guanajuato and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
