Regular Season Round 4: Vichy Clermont - Gries/Oberhoffen 85-76

Date: November 1, 2019
An interesting game for JA Vichy (3-1) which hosted in Vichy one of their biggest challengers Gries/Oberhoffen (2-2). Third ranked JA Vichy managed to get a 9-point victory 85-76. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Gries/Oberhoffen. It was a key game for the top position in the league. JA Vichy forced 20 Gries/Oberhoffen turnovers. Strangely Gries/Oberhoffen outrebounded JA Vichy 39-23 including 26 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for JA Vichy especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Pendarvis Williams (198-91, college: Norfolk St.) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 5 steals and David Denave (193-85) who added 21 points and 6 assists (made all of his seven free throws) during the contest. At the losing side Bruno Cingala-Mata (200-93) responded with 21 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) and Spanish point guard Josep Franch (193-91) scored 9 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. JA Vichy have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 6 other teams. Gries/Oberhoffen at the other side dropped to the eighth place with two games lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. JA Vichy will play against Paris (#17) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Gries/Oberhoffen will play against Olympique Antibes (#14) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
