Regular Season Round 7: Rivas - Aguimes 83-62

Everything went according to plan when second ranked Rivas (6-1) outleveled at home 16th ranked Aguimes (1-6) 83-62 on Saturday. Rivas dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Aguimes' 30. They outrebounded Aguimes 40-27 including 30 on the defensive glass. Center Alejandro Relano (205-93) fired a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. American center Julien Sargent (211-91, college: Mobile, AL) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds. Rivas' coach Juanjo Simon felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Naturalized Dominican center Garny Garcia-Nivar (205-89) produced 19 points and 5 rebounds and forward Carlos Apolinario (196-96) added 11 points and 4 steals respectively for lost side. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Rivas. They keep a position of Group B leader, which they share with Real Madrid II and Quintanar. Aguimes lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the sixteenth place with six games lost. Rivas will face Dist.Olimpico (#13) in Madrid in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Aguimes will play on the road against Alcobendas and hope to win that game.
