Regular Season Round 9: Kataja - Lahti 62-82

We should mention about the upset which took place in Joensuu, where 4th placed Kataja (5-3) was outleveled at home by eleventh ranked Lahti (3-6) 82-62 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Kataja. The game was mostly controlled by Lahti. Kataja was better in second period 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American forward Courtney Stockard (196-95, college: St.Bonaventure) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. The former international point guard Tuomas Hirvonen (181-96, agency: HMS) chipped in 17 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Four Lahti players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Jamaican-Canadian point guard Jarred Ogungbemi-Jackson (178-91, college: Calgary) who recorded 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and American swingman Jarekious Bradley (196-90, college: SEMO) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Kataja's coach Juha Sten tested ten players seeing no chance for a win. Lahti moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Kobrat. Loser Kataja keeps the fourth position with three games lost. Lahti will face Kobrat (#10) in Lapua in the next round. Kataja will play on the road against KTP Basket (#7) in Kotka and hope to win that game.
