Regular Season Round 8: Menorca - FC Barcelona 2 73-69

Very expected game in Mahon where 6th ranked Barca II (4-4) was defeated by second ranked Menorca (6-2) 73-69 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Menorca made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game, while Barca II only scored three points from the stripe. They outrebounded Barca II 42-28 including 31 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Urko Otegui (203-81) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Jorge Jimenez (182-81) who added 10 points and 7 assists during the contest. Senegalese guard El-Hadji Badio (188-99) responded with 22 points, 5 assists and 6 steals and Montenegrin center Nikola Zizic (208-0) scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Menorca maintains second position in Silver with 6-2 record behind leader Juaristi ISB. Loser Barca II keeps the sixth place with four games lost. Menorca will face Villarrobledo (#4) on the road in the next round. Barca II will play against Benicarlo and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the LEB Gold just one year after relegation.
