Regular Season Round 7: Politechnika Gd. - AZS UMK Torun 93-75

Not a big story in a game in Gdansk where bottom-ranked AZS UMK Torun (0-5) was defeated by sixth ranked Politechnika Gd. (3-2) 93-75 on Saturday. Politechnika Gd. dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to AZS UMK Torun's 30. They outrebounded AZS UMK Torun 37-22 including a 29-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Politechnika Gd. looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a great evening for guard Robert Kolka (184-93) who led his team to a victory scoring 32 points and 6 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field). Patryk Piszczatowski (190-98) helped adding 22 points and 5 assists. Four Politechnika Gd. players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Slawomir Murowicki (194-83) responded with 17 points and guard Zbigniew Malinowski (188-84) scored 15 points (made all of his seven free throws). Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Politechnika Gd.. They maintain sixth place in Group A with 3-2 record. AZS UMK Torun lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. Politechnika Gd. will face Astoria 2 (#11) in Bydgoszcz in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. AZS UMK Torun will play at home against Koszalin Zak and hopes to get finally their first victory.
