Regular Season Round 5: Rishon - Ashdod 67-66

A very interesting game took place in Rishon Le-Zion. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 10th ranked Maccabi Ashdod (1-4) to fourth ranked Rishon (4-1) 67-66 on Saturday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. American guard Jordan Swing (198-90, college: UAB) nailed a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side and his fellow American import power forward Darryl Monroe (201-86, college: GMU) accounted for 12 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. American forward Noah Dickerson (203-97, college: Washington) came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and naturalized American Stuart Douglass (191-90, college: Michigan) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Maccabi Ashdod in the defeat. Maccabi Ashdod's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Rishon. They moved-up to second place, which they share with H.Jerusalem. Maccabi Ashdod lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the eleventh position with four games lost. Rishon's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Hapoel Jerusalem on the road and it will be for sure the game of the week. Maccabi Ashdod will play against the league's leader Maccabi T-A (#1) and hope to win that game.
