Regular Season Round 5: Unicaja - Almeria 63-55

There was a minor upset in Malaga where higher ranked Almeria (2-3) was defeated by twelfth ranked Unicaja (2-3) 63-55 on Saturday. Unicaja outrebounded Almeria 50-32 including 37 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was power forward Veronica Matoso (185-88) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 23 rebounds. Senegalese center Bineta NDoye (196-93) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks. Point guard Isabel Latorre (170-96) produced 18 points and Argentinian point guard Macarena Durso (162-91) added 9 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Unicaja moved-up to sixth place in Group B, which they share with 6 other teams including defeated Almeria. Unicaja will face UCAM Jairis (#7) in Alcantarilla in the next round.
