There was a minor upset in Tokyo where 4th ranked Ibaraki R. (5-9) was defeated by sixth ranked Koshigaya A. (3-11) 98-82 on Saturday. Koshigaya A. looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. Ibaraki R. was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Charles Hinkle (198-88, college: American) scored 23 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Tomoya Ochiai (195-87) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Koshigaya A.'s coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Guard Atsunobu Hirao (178-89) responded with 23 points and 4 assists and Nigerian forward Daniel Ochefu (211-93, college: Villanova) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted Koshigaya A. maintains sixth position with 3-11 record, which they share with Bambitious N. and Yamagata. Ibaraki R. lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with nine games lost. Koshigaya A. will face again higher ranked Ibaraki R. (#4) in Tsukuba in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
