Regular Season Round 7: Gornik Walbrzych - Kotwica 76-74

A very interesting game took place in Walbrzych. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 10th ranked Kotwica (2-5) to third ranked Gornik (5-1) 76-74 on Saturday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Kotwica. It was an exceptional evening for center Damian Cechniak (208-93) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Krzysztof Jakobczyk (183-86, agency: Promotex) accounted for 13 points for the winning side. Gornik's coach Lukasz Grudniewski allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Naturalized Canadian forward Nick Madray (206-94, college: Wagner) came up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds and Bartosz Wrobel (190-95, agency: Octagon Europe) added 18 points and 4 assists respectively for Kotwica in the defeat. Five Gornik and four Kotwica players scored in double figures. Gornik maintains third place with 5-1 record behind leader STK Czarni. Kotwica at the other side dropped to the thirteenth position with five games lost. Gornik's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Pogon Prudnik (#15) on the road which should be an easy win for them. Kotwica will play against Polfarmex and hope to win that game.
