There was no surprise in San Sebastian where 13th ranked Gipuzkoa UPV (1-6) was defeated by seventh ranked Araski (4-3) 62-56 on Saturday. It was a great evening for point guard Izaskun Garcia (168-92) who led her team to a victory scoring 12 points and 4 assists. Guard Tania Perez-Torres (183-91) helped adding 14 points. Araski's coach Madelen Urieta used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side Senegalese power forward Oumoul Sarr (185-84) responded with 17 points and American forward Mehryn Kraker (183-94, college: Green Bay) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. Araski maintains seventh place with 4-3 record. Loser Gipuzkoa UPV dropped to the twelfth position with six games lost. They share it with Zamarat and Bembibre. Araski will meet at home Promete (#11) in the next round. Gipuzkoa UPV will play against Socinsa Bembibre and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
